Few turnings

Been awhile since I posted any of my woodworking, heres some pics. First one is ambrosia maple, 13"x6" finish is friction polish and wax.

This cherry blank was cut in 2011. Turned a nice platter from it, one crack filled with CA. 15" diameter.

I recently made a whammer!
Started with a 4" thick walnut blank.

Wacked about a 10" piece off and ripped the sapwood off on the bandsaw.

Squared that up on the jointer.

Drilled a 1" hole in the blank and turned it to shape on the lathe.

Test fitting the head to the handle.

It's a biggun! But fits my hand well.

Almost done, just need to sand the handle on top flush with the head.

I was recently given a nice chunk of cocobolo, I was thinking that a mallet might be a good use for it.
