Fireproofing OSB walls and floors

Most installation (hang and/or tape) crews are looking for side work (cash), and will amaze you with their speed and price. Look for them in any local construction sites.
Walk right in there, like you OWN the building, and just ask:grin:
This right here. The guys that do it commercially are very fast. Tell them it is going to be a shop so doesn't need the feathered edges and they will be even faster. We had a 2 car garage that needed drywall. Drywall was sitting on garage floor ready. They showed up after work and made it home for dinner. I think unloading and loading the drywall lift took more time than actually hanging the drywall did. I hate drywalling too and it was money well spent.

Ditto on Drywall. You could also treat the floors with Timbor Termite insecticide. It’s nothing more than borate salt. Timbor... Bora-care and even 20 mule borax offer some fire proofing of lumber products..
That said, Bora-care soaks into the wood much deeper.
just beware that you’ll need galvanized nails since over time.... it’s a bit corrosive.

Amazon Bora-care

that.... and a basic alarm with smoke detector from Simpisafe. And get it monitored with app on your phone.

We had our garage drywalled when we moved in and built out the bedroom above it. Pro's do it amazingly fast, especially if it doesn't have to look nice....

1/2" drywall has a fire rating of 1/2 hr, 5/8" has a rating of 45 min. Which in our county 5/8 is required of a garage that is attached or within 10' of the house.
