You could have re-installed the original bushing 180* from its original orientation. That would have given you another 30 winters. Unfortunately there is no machining content in that approach.

I never even considered rotating the bushing 180 degrees. Repairing or making a bushing allowed me to rationalize the purchase of a lathe that cost more than a replacement snow blower.

You could further rationalize and buy a mill so you could machine the hex from solid bar.
