Some owners of Colchester lathes may not realize that many lathes have a geared converter /inch to metric/built into the cross feed dial assy.This is not just two scales like the Asians have,but a proper geared assy inside the dial to do the conversion.It was an optional extra costing something like $500 extra ,back in the day....If your machine has it ,the dial will push/pull in and out to change the scale....Just the dial,not the handwheel.
