Hardinge DV-59, DSM-59, VBS-R collet closer issue

I acquired a DV-59 (I understand that it is really a DSM-59 VBS-R model, but that's another story) which normally is shipped with a Hardinge 5c collet closer and spindle setup. In my case, it came with an optional B&S 21sc closer, spindle and collet system.

Is there anyone out there familiar with this closer? I have discovered that it pushes the collet to constrict around the work rather than pulling like the usual 5c system. I need a parts guide and some knowledge about how to adjust it because I (1) Can't get it to tighten on the collets, and, (2) Can't get all of it off the machine to examine it. I had to dissemble parts to get down to the drive gear and then I couldn't get it or the spindle out.

Thanks for any help on this.

Is there nobody out there who has one of these B&S collet systems or is familiar enough with them to help?! :anyone:

There's a guy that goes by Gunner Asch that repairs these for a living.

I had him open an account here, but he's not been back :(

If you do Usenet, he's a regular on rec.crafts.metalworking

Thank you, Karl. I will see if I can find him.
