Has Anyone Seen a Carriage Like This One?

This photo is from a batch of Logans for sale on CL. I have no interest in buying, but I was curious about the carriage
on this: never seen anything like it. Anyone know how it's used?

It could be used for broaching bores ( if I'm making out the pictures correctly )

I saw a pictures of something like this years ago and although much longer, it was (as I remember) really close to this design and was for broaching the riflings in gun barrels. As far as how it works ??? Never saw a manual or anything.

With the face plate towards the turret tail stock, I would guess a gear reduction drive.

I second it’s for a broaching operation how it’s set up in picture. Only way it could do something.
