I hear you, I want to DIY everything but sometimes it's so much easier and faster to get someone else to just take care of it. Out of curiosity what's the installation cost run on the mini splits?

Aside from the 18 KBtu MrCool mini split itself, my only additional costs were for a mounting bracket for the compressor and some electrical. I had to run a 240 volt line to the compressor and ran 12-3. I also had to buy a couple of breakers; total additional cost around $100. The hardest part of the install was the prep work. The actual install was done in less than two hours.

Make sure to do your research. There are many inexpensive mini splits out there, but many are also really inefficient. You may save $$$ up front, but end up paying $$$$ in energy costs.
