Help needed for calculating and making the correct size gear for my thread dial indicator of my metric lathe leafscrew for cutting 1.75mm pitch and 3.5mm pitch .I have a 12mm pitch leadscrew. Don't ask how I got the rest of the metric spectrum worked out, cause that is a long story. I am just having problems with these two pitches.

Thank you if someone can help. It's bedtime for me now so if I do not answer any questions now, please do not think I am rude.

I'm not sure what you are asking for here. There is a gear you need for your dial indicator?

Yeah not clear on the question either but I think you're asking what change gears to use to cut 1.75mm and 3.5mm threads if the leadscrew is 12mm?

If so, try a calculator like this one: http://bilar.co.uk/cgi-bin/change-gear-calculator.pl Littlemachineshop.com has one too but it never worked for me but that could be me not entering everything they want.

That is exactly what I am asking, but I figured it out. I will post a thread later on my thread dial build.

Several gears are required for the thread dial on lathes with metric leadscrews The ones that I have use three different numbers of teeth, usually all made on a sleeve on the dial shaft so that they can be shifted lengthwise to engage the leadscrew. I assume that this is necessary due to the inclusion of quarter half and three quarter fractions of threads.
