Can anyone identify this critter? Mic head is B & S. Numbers on casting body are B-1058 on one side and H within a circle and an M. Part holding mike is adjustable and travels in a slot and can be locked with a thumb screw. Looks to be pretty well made.

I made a similar one for my Universal horizontal boring mill (sold shop and retired) Do you want to sell it?
 
For checking roundness, (TIR), of round bar stock.
 
One way to check if it is for setting a tool bit on a boring bar. Look at the numbers and lines on the mic head. If it starts at 1.3 something instead of "0", you know it's for use on a boring bar. If not, could be for something else.

Can we get a picture of the mic head?
