Help with thread size

Glad it worked for you. Just wondering what size of bore you chose to start with.

I have the bore size written down at work. Cant remember exactly at the moment. I'll post it tomorrow. I like left to right better myself but have seen it described chuck to tailstock about as much, usually clarifying what someone meant after writing left to right.
Again, thanks for the help.

Thanks, that would give you .034'' of engagement or 60%.

Here is a pic of the male threaded part. I needed 2.220 for the piece to slide into the bore before it would get to the threads. threads.JPG

The thing about threading "chuck to tailstock", or left to right, is that the chuck must not be threaded. If it is, you run the risk of unthreading it and having it fly off the lathe and go rolling around on the floor.
