Hewitt Machine and Toolshop Auction

These auctions are always fun to look at. For much of the tools we would be interested in, a business probably already has so the prices are reasonable. Many times the auction company does not ship, so you have to pick it up or arrange for a third party to go get it. Does anyone know how to contract for a third party or what they charge (picking up a set of calipers is different than a 20 x 120 lathe I realize)? By the time you pay for the item, the buyer's fee, the sales tax, pay to have someone go get it, then pay to ship chunks of metal around, the deal might not be as good as it might seem. And, of course, there is that pig in a poke thing - since you didn't get to look at it before you bought it. The third party thing is the real question here.

And sometimes, I’ve seen where one buyer steps up and buys the entire lot the day of the auction. Blows my mind. I’m guessing there’s a lot of fine print.
