I have a HF 8 inch Drill Press and the spindle just seems to rattle a lot. I run at low speed and I have pulled the spindle out and can't see or find any issue with the bearing. The arbor shaft does seem to be out of round .005, and just don't know if that is making the rumble noise.

Are you sure it is the spindle? Or is it the motor pulley? That happens on a lot of these.
.005 is a lot out of round... Do you have any shim stock to stick in the bore to hold it still?

The one we have from Harbor is noisy. Never worried about the noise since it was sitting on a hollow table. As long as the spindle ran true I was happy. Mine is making noise from the drive belt.
