HF 8x12 Lathe - Gear to Lead Screw alignement

On the HF 8x12 Lathe is the Lead screw to be engaged by the gear coming out of the bottom of the thread tracking box (sorry - don't know the name of this), seems to be aligned where the edge of the gear is at the tangent of the lead screw, so a minimal amount of thread engagement is taking place. Does this seem right ?

Mine was somewhat like that. No big deal as the thread dial is just used as an indicator & not to transfer power. You could probably just shim it if it bothers you that much or if it's actually creating a problem. There's no key for that gear so really the only thing that you should do regardless is align it for the markings if off & make sure it's tight. Mine was loose & eventually slipped.
