On a HF - 8x12 - Lathe - how much play is there in the Saddle Lead Screw. Mine seems to be like an eighth of a hand wheel turn from turning in one direction then another ? Is there any way to reduce that ?

there is a way to reduce the axial endplay,
there is a cast iron leadscrew nut that has 2 small metric allen screws, by manipulating the tiny little screws you can reduce the looseness od the saddle leadscrew.

i also saw a roller bearing conversion for the leadscrew that looks pretty cool, i think i saw it on Varmit Al's mini lathe site

Thank you - I went to Varmint Al's site and saw he used a washer for the threading lead screw axial end play.
For the Saddle screw you mentioned, I do see those tiny 2 screws in the diagram as part 541 - screw - but I do not have those screw holes. Can you send a picture and/or describe how they work putting pressure somewhere ?
Are there any other adjustments for any of the other lead screws, (Tail Stock, Tool Post, Apron, Feed Box, etc ?
