I have been looking at the 8x12 lathe at Harbor Freight, I like the simplicity and the fact it is a little heavier built than many it's size. A couple questions (1) does it come with change gears? It doesn't list any as a feature or as a separate item to purchase either. (2) does anyone else sell it? I know LatheMaster did but they are out of business. It seems like a nice size, and I count the lack of variable speed as a plus for long-term reliability.

I used to have one, great little lathe, far better than the 7x mini lathes imo. Crazy how much they cost now. I purchased mine new from HF for 1/3 of what they cost now.

Yes they do come with change gears as well as the gear to reverse leadscrew direction. It's too bad that LM went out of business. They were the only one that sold the speed reduction pulley (great for single point threading). I also got a back splash from them, HF doesn't sell it.

As far I knew, only HF & LM sold that 8x14. I believe they were made by Eagle Industries.
