Highly Questionable Business Practices ??

Several responses hit the mark perfectly, and I'm in agreement with all of the responses.
I won't even allow salesmen in unless they've been called, 90% or more, my orders are online and I specify each item, and check the invoice against each. We only have two decent walk in storefronts, 65 miles away.
Salesmen! Site chat windows! Daily email! Featured items! Uhhh, nope! [well, maybe some featured items].
 
If they told you " these are just as good as " , most likely they aren't . Sounds like a bait and switch for higher profits . I would've done the same thing as you .
 
Maybe store was no longer allowed to sell the product...

Some suppliers limit their sellers to good folks ...
