How to Safely Move a Lathe by Tom Lipton (Oxtools)

Good video, thanks for posting. My philosophy on moving machinery is it shouldn't take more than 2 people (though an extra hand usually welcome) and should never rely on the physical strength of those involved. i.e., if the plan is get 6 strong guys to manhandle the machine around, it's a bad plan.

Not so sure about a 10EE but most lathes are way top heavy and are looking for any opportunity to fall on their face (or yours)...........Bob

It was in my plans to build something like this to move mine. It would have pneumatic tires that would turn and it would be shorter. All I needed was to lift the lathe up 1-3". It would be tied off so it wouldn't swing.
Before I could build it, I had a friend with a small fork lift help out. I then easily moved it with two wheeled floor jacks.

a month ago I had the opportunity to buy a new lathe so I whipped up these lathe casters to move it with: (based on Tom's skates)
