When I bought my Seneca Falls lathe a while back it came with some extra parts, a steady rest and an extra compound. The existing compound works fine, so I never paid the extra one much attention until recently and it seems it's not for my lathe. I'm hoping some of you might have an educated guess as to what machine it might have originally come from.

A few more, including better images of the mounting.

On the underside of the compound, there is "0.17" cast into it.

On the top, it has "0.18"

On the handle I believe it reads "0304"

That dovetail looks similar to one on a Sheldon that I have, but there is no notch on mine. My Sheldon dates somewhere between 1880 to 1910 or so. Mine appears as though someone made a new compound for it so who knows?
