This and some inserts finally arrived. Ordered on March 24th - Arrive on the 13th.
$20 for the holder and $13 worth of inserts. And one of the boxes of inserts looks to actually be Mitsubishi.

Now for the problem, I do believe I ordered too long of a holder. Always thought longer was better.
It's hanging out of an R8 a pretty good amount.

How much should I cut off? I'm thinking ~1.5" but am uncertain.

Is your concern about rigidity or headroom? The tool cannot be used for slabbing sides of the work due to it's design, but it can do flats down in a deep slot. How deep a slot would you like to be able to face the bottom of? Cut it there...

I grabbed it mainly for facing. I also want to make up several Tee Nuts. For the lathe compounds, the BP table, the RoTab, and an angle plate.
Figured it could handle the ~.200" 'step' so to speak. Not in one pass though.
I'm concerned by how far out it protruds and hence rigidity.

I have a 7/8 three insert that I like for jobs like your talking of.
it is 3 3/4 overall and that leaves 1 1/4 sticking out when all the way in the 3/4 collet.
I would think you would want to be able to chuck that as short as possible.
I'd probably cut it so it could be clamped to the minimum down to where the diameter changes.
