They seem to be pipe dies (at least the 3/4 and 1 are). The earliest date is a "Patent date 1865" - isn't that before proper thread standards came out? They probably ought to be in a museum somewhere.
I don’t know if they’re that old. I have a Craftsman Pipe threading set from by dad that was bought in the 40’s. It uses square dies that we’re still available a few years ago.
I got them from a fellow I do the occasional small machining job for. He got them in a lot of mixed stuff at an auction. He's had them kicking around his shop for a while and was going to throw them out. Me? "I never let not needing tools keep from acquiring them."
