Introductory Metallurgy

On my way into the reading room the other morning, I happened to grab my old copy of "Metals and How to Weld Them" by the James F Lincoln Arc Welding Foundation. I (re) discovered that it has an excellent section on the metallurgy of steel and some non-ferrous metals. This is the kind of basic knowledge a would be machinist needs to posses in order to choose the right material and processes to achieve the desired results, even if you're not welding. Explains things like hardness, toughness, ductility, martensitic, austenitic and all those other terms you've wondered about.

It also covers welding.

I got rid of many books years ago , but I had this or one very similar to this book . This was part of the Tool and Die Journeymans papers requirements which I went on to complete . Maybe I should have kept them but haven't don't much HTing since 99 . Good book though for anyone interested .
