I picked up a set of keyseat cutters that have tapered shanks. I’m guessing they have a Brown & Sharpe #5 taper. I came up with 0.482 in/ft based on measuring 2 of them.

Can someone confirm? If so, what do I need to use them. I have some ER32 collets and R8 collets, but don’t know if either will work with the taper.

Thanks

B&S5 looks about right for the taper.
unfortunately you'll need to make or buy an adapter to drive them
another possibility is to mount them between lathe centers and remove the taper
with the taper removed, the new cylindrical feature could be held by an R8 or ER32 collet arrangement

Thanks for the reply. I was guessing I would probably have to make or buy an adapter.

This is what I did with some taper shank endmills that were given to me. Better than an adapter.
