Happened to view the single lever head lock mod by an Italian chap posted on You Tube and couldn't help myself - one lever is a lot better than tightening two bolts every time and more consistent! Of course this required me to make a whole different way of "holding the X" while I was at it (tongue in cheek), my old system of using guide blocks on the rack giving a 2-1/2" control arm still worked but not as robust as this one with a 12" arm length. I know this is nothing new as most members use this kind of system, this is just my version.
Used 3/8" HRS plate, 2 rings 4-1/2" ID X 6" OD X 1" wide and a 1-1/4" stress relieved 1144 control rod.
Every test I have made keeps the X at a thou or less so no need for the "longest tool" approach to setting head height.
I'll just let the pictures do the rest of the talking.
Thanks for looking.
