Kohler K231S Question

rusty
i'm just fooling around cleaning and painting the head.
i want to test start it.
put head back on with old gasket.
clean carb a little. rig up something to hold coil.
see how it runs as is.
bore, heads of valves and inside of engine look real good.
plug and head were looking sooty black though.
think that was just carb misadjusted.

and then their is your wifes dishwasher:biggrin:

I like the dish waser, it works pretty good on grime, remember to run it through empty with detergent after the parts run.
Scrub off the big chunks before you run the part through otherwise it might come back to haunt you.

The more I think about it the more I want a full kitchen in the garage.

flatbelter
get a used dishwasher and put it in the shop.
it takes a hot and cold water line and
then 120v or 220v.
the guy at auto machine shop says
they have 'parts washer', has rack that rotates.
i'm still digging into my kohler, figuring out how it's made.
did get kohler manual from jack's small engines.
that was a good move.

dont just use any coil use one off of early 70s chevy it is internaly reduced to 6volts so you dont burn points and condenser up:biggrin:

this one came with mopar type resistor.
points look good.
i've also been thrashing around with Ford ignition system
so that has been an 'ignition refresher course' for me.
what happened to your vacation?

it went good, i left them with their lights brighter lol if ya need help on the ford wiring let me know, neg cable to frame pos cab to side of sylnoid other side of sylnoid to starter, run a hotwire from battery fused to ignition switch then a hotwire fron switch with key on to coil then you need a hotwire from the switch in the starter position to your ignition side of sylnoid small terminal:biggrin: mac

what's the 'resistance wire' like.
i heard that's ford's version of ballast resitor
to drop 12 volts for coil 'run'.
i got my 292 & cruisomatic after it was pulled
from '64 pickup truck.
it's going in t bucket build.

i'm not for sure on the resistance wire thats why i use the chevy coil the resistance is built into the coil:thinking: mac

mac
i'm in the process of figuring out the ford 'resistance wire'.
i'll probably put the kohler carb in carb dip.
i have to look and see if complete gasket set
includes carb gaskets, i don't think so.
i forgot to say, i got gasket set from jacks small engines too.

Have A Nice Day!
