I'm considering purchasing a 2 axis DRO for my lathe.

I'm looking at an EL400 from DRO Pros ($985) or a MX-100L from Precision Mathews ($799).
Both with 0.00005" cross slide, and 0.0002" carriage resolution.

Aside from price, is there a reason to choose one over the other?

Check availability for the display and each length scale you need. Lots of shortages.

Remember, carriage is Z and cross slide is X, Y is a milling attachment.

They are both the same DRO, the MX-100L is an EL-400 display and also looks like the scales may be the same, they are made by Elctronica. There might be some small difference in the brackets, and typically you are better off making your own. The PM is less expensive, both give very good support. I have purchased from both vendors.

Thanks,
That was what I assumed. But I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

I have the EL400 on my mill. It’s been a good unit.
I’d love to put a DRO on my 15x50 lathe. The price has stopped me from ordering.

I installed DRO Pros on both a SB lathe and mill. Have to say the support was excellent from DRO Pros.
