lathe threading limitations question from newbie

I've had my Grizzly G4003G for 3 years now. Luv it. Although it will cut 4-112 tpi I've never threaded over 40 tpi. Most 12 x36 lathes will thread to 56 tpi which is a very fine thread. My main concerns were a bore that would pass a 1-1/2 inch barrel blank and the ability to cut all american threads without changing gears. I still have to change gears for metric threads (hate it) but I didn't see any 12x36 lathes in my price range that could do both systems without changing gears.
