More pictures would be needed before much insight could be provided.

It’s a 5 Hp servo shift lathe serial number 7C1894
With a tapper attachment everything works as it should very little back lash in the dials it came with a RPC so it works with residential power got a 3 jaw Chuck 4 jaw Chuck a bunch of tooling some that I will be getting rid of cause I already have a bunch of stuff
The servo shift sounds great and shifts with out a problem no chipped gears In the head stock that I could find when I took the cover off and the other covers on the end where drive motor runs belts up everything looks good there too
The one question I did have was where is the drain plug to drain the oil from the head stock ?

I like the moving rollers, the lathe looks good.

I just was wondering if there is anything I need to look out for or should be aware of with these lathes cause I’ve heard good and bad about them because of the servo shift !!!!!!!

Lol it was much heavier then my powermatic Logan 10x24 I sold I had to bring my big case off road forklift up to get it in my barn from what I found on the internet it weighs in around 3,000 Lbs ?

It also came with a bunch of brazed carbide ,Armstrong tool holders a Fims tool post (no holders) and these two carriage stops that don’t fits this machine and some kennametal tool holders if there’s anyone local to me I’ll hook them up cause I’m not going to use

I’m locale to the eastern shore here in Maryland and do travel across the Bay Bridge for work

You asked where the oil drain is for the headstock . On my 13” servo shift , built in 1962 , there is a pipe plug on the bottom of the headstock just behind the chuck . I had to remove a chip guard plate to access the plug .

There is a single screw holding that plate in place . The chip guard plate fits very well . I have no idea how the chips got behind the plate , but it was filthy . The screw is on the front vertical wall of the headstock behind the chuck .

To drain the QCGB I believe there are two pipe plugs on the bottom front of the box . I use DTE 26 for the oil .

I really like my servo shift . Good luck ....Steve

Thank you very much for that info I never would of though to look there as I cleaned and went over everything that plate there below the chuck I didn’t take it off when cleaning up the lathe !!!!!! I did the quick change gear box already and looking at the lathe now know that there is a drain plug there I believe the guy that has it before me didn’t know about that and he drained it from the sight glass on the headstock cause there is what looks to be silicone around it
