LeBlond Regal Lathe - $1500 (Terrebonne)

Maybe it's just me, but that machine looks like it was rode hard and put away wet. It appears to have been stored outdoors without much to protect it from the elements. The rust looks like it's more than "surface deep".

Personally I like the LeBlond Regal lathes. We had several at work and never had a problem with accuracy or dependability. I'm not sure I would be interested in this one unless I was looking for a project. It looks like it would take a considerable amount of time and effort just to get it cleaned up, and even longer if it had problems.

I'd be more worried about the headstock gears, spindle bearings and way wear than rust. If those 3 things are ok, then you could get most of that rust off with a razor blade and some scotchbrite pads. Then you'd have a large capable lathe that appears to be fairly well tooled for $1500 :)
