Who has one of these? Model 91000 or similar. Mr Pete did a video series on one a while back.

I love mine, but have always wondered if there is a technique or modification to thin the web or split points on drills? I have many morse taper drills that are getting pretty short and figured it`d be nice to make a set of stubby drills out of them.

I don't know if some of the more complex machines like Darex can do web thinning or not. Might check their capabilities and see if there is an adapter for them you could copy?

One of the Drill Drs will split points on drills up to 3/4, down to 1/8th or so. I have sharpened 0.100 drills but didn't feel the need to split the point.

I've also used it to make stubby 118º spotting drills.

Probably the best way to do it is with a tool & cutter grinder, where setting up the taper of the web thinning and the helix angle is not so much of a problem, and is more versatile for other jobs as well.
