Looking at a 9 inch SB Workshop ?

Thanks for all the thoughts guys . One reason I'm interested in this machine is it is for sale for a kind of friendly price . Harvey nailed it , It's a model 5 . Some of the parts I thought it was missing aren't missing they were just never there . Lathes UK is so awesome , every time I look at it I find something new . If I do get this machine , I'm going to go the wall mount for the shaft and motor .

the picture at that site showing the wall mount shows an open tail stock.
it's the way it was built.

Hi , yes the early "5's" were built that way . In Tony's write up there was a even more early prototype (5) that had the closed in part underneath the spindle .
