Hello all

I need a 4” rotary table. Preferrably a vertical but horizontal would work. My dilemma is I want to spend the money once. I’m a big amazon/eBay shopper as I live in southeast Alaska so I need to jump on the free freight every chance I get. I really will settle for nothing less than high precision top quality and want a USA made table but having troubles finding one other than a Sherline. Nothing wrong with a Sherline just want to see all available so I can pick. Not interested in Chinese or India made tables but if I have to go this route suggestions on quality imports are most certainly welcome as long as they fit my criteria.

Thanks in advance

I think Sherline is the only choice made in the US. Taig points customers to Sherline for rotary tables, and I haven't seen any other US-made rotary tables. I'm guessing you'd have to go back to the 50's to find another US-made one, and probably nothing smaller than 6". Maybe Atlas used to make one?

From their web site:

"All of our products are inventoried, assembled, and tested at our Elk Grove, IL facility before shipping."

In other words, they count them, screw on some number of pieces, and perform QA.

I'm sure the product is fine, but it's not "made in the USA".

I own a Sherline 4" rotab and it is quite good. However, it is also somewhat limited in that it does not accept dividing wheels and it does not have a table release; you have to crank it around to get to your next location. It is quite well made, reliable and accurate. It will mount to a milling table as well as a tilting angle table without eating up that much room in Z.

I also own a Japan-made 6" Yuasa that is pretty much fully tooled up. This is a really fine, fully featured rotab that is probably the most cloned rotary table out there. Vertex makes a clone that is quite close. Smooth, accurate and no longer made.

The only other import I have heard of that might meet your needs is the Warco HV-4: https://www.warco.co.uk/rotary-tables-engineering-tools/124-hv4-rotary-table.html. At that price, I'm pretty sure it will be a Warco design but Chinese made. Cannot attest to how good it is but Warco sells some nice small stuff so you might inquire.

I was fortunate to purchase the Sherline CNC Rotary Table, with the Indexer, when they had it on sale. It works well for me.

The only other option I can think of is Palmgren, http://www.palmgren.com/product/323/270 Not sure if these are still made in the USA, but they used to be.

Troyke no longer makes manual tables, but you might be able to find a used one on Ebay, not sure if they ever made a 4 inch.

I have a Vertex and an Enco, both are high quality imports.

Made in Japan (Yuasa) is just as good as made in USA, if not better, these days. Other than Sherline I can't think of any 4" RTs made in the USA these days. 4" RTs aren't that common and all are usually imports.

Taiwan made is good too. I have an 8" Vertex & as Mikey said is a clone of the Yuasa (for 6" models & larger). I'm very happy with it.

Vertex currently offers two 4" RTs, HV-4 & 3900-2314.

HV-4 $290 shipped
