Looking to buy a new horizontal bandsaw- advice requested

That is good news. Bird in the hand vs. having to buy one out of the bush!

I'd look at the bigger saw HF sells. Looks good has everything the higher priced ones it's around $800.00 with coupons can be near $675.00 . But your not looking now.

UPDATE FYI
Grizzly just offered the
G9742 - 5" x 6" Metal-Cutting Bandsaw w/ Swivel Head
now for St Patty's Day for $545

Some prior reviews on the G9742, but everything is to a price point so don't expect it to perform like a $2000 machine. http://www.hobby-machinist.com/threads/anyone-else-bought-a-g9742-bandsaw.38810/

One thing to consider is cutting on the bias or cutting flat stock, which would require a bigger machine. I prefer the gearbox as opposed to the belt drives, as they are less bulky and easier to change speeds. But you could get by with a single speed and a good variable pitch blade. Might look at the Baileigh BS-128M through QMT, I prefer the kill/operating switches on the top of the saw, but the Grizzly price at $545 is hard to beat. Hard to tell, but price difference is close. Capacity Rectangular 90, 45 5" x 6, 3" x 3.7"
