This looked very interesting for those of you on the east coast, auction starts 1/11 and ends 1/15
govliquidation.com
machinery
lathes
they have about a dozen of these, stored outside for a while (some rust but hopefully minor) location is Portsmouth Va.
If you could score these for a grand or two you'd be making out like a bandit- these go for 15K new
Check it out! They do charge a 12.5% buyer's premium :disgust:

Is it not distressing the government waste? Leaving nice machines out like that makes me sad to see my tax dollars rusting

Somebodyelses problem in action.

I work for the government and I've seen it first hand. What typically happens is new equipment arrives and there is no place to put the old stuff. Several years ago the district office got new furnishings, to their credit the old stuff was at least placed under a carport to provide some protection from the weather. The stuff was offered to other offices within the agency and what was left was auctioned off, a process that took months.

As an aircraft nerd that 12" Pratt & Whitney lathe would be a neat project. Wrong coast...
