I HAVE A WORLD CLASS COLLECTION OF CHUCKS FOR MY EMCO MAXIMAT SUPER 11 LATHE .
TROUBLE IS , THE CABINETS IN THE FACTORY BASE ARE NOTHING MORE THAN LOCKERS .

I DECIDED TO BUILD SOME DRAWERS TO STORE MY CHUCKS AND AXA TOOL HOLDERS .

THIS WAS NO SMALL TRICK . I BUILT AN ALUMINUM FRAME TO SUPPORT THE DRAWER SLIDERS
AND IT NEEDS TO BE ASSEMBLED INSIDE THE CABINET .

THE DRAWER BASES ARE MADE FROM PLANKS OF 3/4" OAK WITH HOLES BORED IN THEM
TO ACCOMMODATE THE CHUCKS AND NYLON BLOCKS MOUNTED TO HOLD THE AXA TOOLING .

FUN PROJECT THAT I WILL THANK MYSELF FOR EVERY TIME I NEED A CHUCK OR TOOL AND
DON'T HAVE TO DIG IT OUT OF A BOX SOMEWHERE .

I STILL HAVE SOME MORE ROOM FOR TOOL HOLDERS .

THE CHUCKS ARE :
6" MAIER INDIPENDENT REVERSABLE 4 JAW ( D1-4 )
4.5" EMCO TAILSTOCK CHUCK ( MORSE TAPER 2 MOUNT )
JACOBS BEARING MOUNTED TWIRLEY CHUCK ( MT-2 )
4" BUCK 6 JAW JEWLER's CHUCK ( 5c COLLET MOUNT )
6.5" MAIER REVERSABLE 3 JAW ( D1-4 )
5" EMCO 3 JAW WITH INSIDE & OUTSIDE JAWS ( D1-4 )

NO ROOM FOR MY HORVATH ECCENTRIC CHUCK
BUT IT HAS IT's OWN WOODEN CASE

Very nice work on the drawers. They look really stout .

Wish my Super 11CD cabinet had storage like that. I have to store my stuff in a Vidmar.

THIS IS WHAT I LOOKED LIKE WHEN I GOT IT .
THE LEFT CABINET DOOR WAS MISSING !

NO PROBLEMO . I BOUGHT A NEW BUT DAMAGED PROTO ADD-ON TOOL BOX ON E-BAY .
I THEN REMOVED THE DRAWERS & SLIDES FROM THE PROTO AND MACHINED THE NECESSARY PARTS
TO PUT 7 OF THEM INTO THE MAXIMAT .

I HAVE THE OPTIONAL FOOT BRAKE ON MY LATHE AND THIS ALSO INVOLVED RE-DESIGNING SOME OF THE PARTS
BECAUSE ON INTERFERENCE PROBLEMS . WORKS BETTER THAN NEW NOW .

AND YES , THAT IS A FACTORY TAPER ATTACHMENT IN THE BOTTOM DRAWER .
THIS WORKED WONDERS BUT THERE WAS NO ROOM FOR THE BIG STUFF .

Hi there Rimspoke! Very nice work! Can I trouble you for some information and photos of the brake fitted to your lathe?
I have seen that it was an option for my Maximat V10P as well but I have not been able to find any information on how it worked.
