Mill table help

Yes, phosphoric acid. The same stuff in Coca Cola. That’s why coke will remove rust off stuff soaked in it. I sometimes do gun parts in phosphoric acid to give them a French style finish.
 
When it comes to cleaning, I use mechanics hand cleaner. Best results with pumice and citric additives and old red scour pads or brushes. Doesn't matter; bare metal or paint, it works. And did I say cheap?
 
The thought of taking 360 grit sand paper to the surface of my mill would scare the bejeebus out of me.

Chemical strippers and some metal etching compounds are also too corrosive to consider on my machine.

Solvent and elbow grease is my go to and I leave the shiny things for the parts I make, not the tools I make them with.
 
Just oil and a scrubber pad for me please
