When I got my second hand mill it came with some strange tooling (see pictures).
2 of the holders are expanding arbors, I've seen these on lathes for turning but these are attached to SK40 holders. Are these for shell mills or something entirely different.
Another 2 holders that I am confused about are what seems like collet holders. But when I lookt at ER collets the nut has a groove which holds the collet in place but these nuts do not have this. Does anybody know what kind of collets go in here, I can't find anything that matches up.
(Extra info: These are all SK40 holders that came with a Swiss mill, opening of the taper on the collet holder is a hair tighter than 40mm)

The collet holder may use Brown & Sharpe #21 collets, these are screw machine collets and were commonly used on mills and cutter grinders. I'd guess that the expanding holders were used for some special job on a mill that would be ordinarily be done on a lathe, possibly, for example, turning a radius on a part using a rotary table.

You mean like a Clarkson chuck? I don't see any threads inside of the collet holder.
I think i'll make an adapter and drawbar so that I can use the expanding arbors in the lathe.

The B&S collets have a straight portion that fits the bore and a tapered portion that fits the taper in the nose of the adapter with a reduced diameter that that pokes through the nut that when tightened clamps the collet ID onto the tool or material being machined. I have a number of them if you might be interested. they are sized up to one inch diameter.

Are these called 161E or F32 collets?

Is this a boring bar holder? What else could this be, never seen something like it. Looks homemade by the suraface finish below but the upper, tapered, part looks proffesional.
I also have this pointy bit, is this for a clarkson tool holder? What does it do, is it like a wiggler or some sorts?
anyone everes used a double woodruff key on something, I have gotten around 8 of these cutters with the mill :dejected:

Those look like my C8 collets. They make a bunch of Cx sizes. Here is a good place to lookm up what you may have.
