Morning,
Quite a while back I saw a post about a fellow machinist who had a mini lathe and was frustrated by the compound slide locking method chosen by the manufacturer, which was to back out the slide all the way and loosen two bolts, set the new angle and tighten the bolts. Check it, repeat, check, repeat and so, designed his own "repair".

I saved the link but when my pc crashed and needed replacement, I lost the link. I am now unable to relocate this page.

Can any of you assist?

Mike

Tom,
Ken-from-ontario had a very simple idea in a video in this thread Mini lathe cross sled angle mod with set screw and after watching the video, I took a left turn and drilled and tapped a set screw hole on the left side eliminating all his complex milling, as shown in the video, and also eliminated the need for a second lathe by just using shims to fill the 3/128" so the round mounting plate was just proud of the cross slide top surface.

Thanks for the links and help, much appreciated.
Mike.

Mike,

My pleasure. Glad you got it like you want it.
