Mini-lathe QCTP Crash

Hi everyone,
Crashed anodized aluminum tool holder into workpiece(ss 304), leaving a welded mess inside the dovetail of the empty tool holder, on my Emco compact 5 mini-lathe.
I don’t want to grind it , or mill it.
Are there any other choices to remove the mess?

Here are 2 pics
Looking at it from a different angle I see it is deformed, preventing the toolholder from seating itself.
What will fix it without any dust?

Better crashing that soft aluminum into your workpiece. That looks like a disposable tool post anyway. A very gentle touch with a file should clean it up without losing any accuracy.

Now you are a machinist! Seriously a few strokes with a file will make it useable if not pretty- and you'll have a reminder not to crash it again

ps if you don't own any files now is a good time to buy a small set

If the tool post is hardened and a file wont clean it up try a 120 or 240 grit 2" quick change abrasive disc on a die grinder
