I have a Seneca Falls 12x36 lathe. A previous owner replaced the bull pin with a chunk of wooden dowel. It works alright I guess, although there is some play which I can't help but suspect isn't doing me any good. The hole in the bull gear is ovalled out.

I'd like to replace it with a proper pin. I expect I would have to drill a new hole in the face of the bull gear. Anyone done anything like this?

Thanks.

Hello,
While I can’t help you directly with the Bull Gear Pin replacement, I thought you and other readers might find this Seneca Falls Lathe pdf from Keith Rucker’s vintagemachine.org website interesting, even helpful.

Good luck, hope you find a solution to your BG pin needs soon.

Man, if you only had a lathe. Then you could make the parts to do the job!
