Wife spotted this sitting in a corner of a basement at an estate sale after I walked past it.
It's going to need some TLC, and it's missing pieces and parts.
I'm pretty certain it is a #514-174 from the Catalog I have on hand (#3000). There are not any model nos. on it anywhere that I can find.
I'm trying to determine the dimensions of the scribe and the holder/carrier/clamp.
The catalog shows 1/4" thick but the tang/mount on this one is measuring .35t x .50w x .98lg.
I have three Starrett carrier/clamps in my stash and they are 1/4"t but are too narrow for this piece.
If someone has one of these and can take off some dimensions or pictures, I'd appreciate it.

The bottom of the base sure does not look so fine, but it could be reground and be fine, with the adjustable vernier this would be possible

Oh nm, mine is a different model. Mine uses the long reach scribe that I don't think would work on yours.

Plus it has the magnifier on it also.
Would you mind shooting a picture of the clamp/carrier? And maybe the inner dimensions while I'm mooching your time. Thanks.

Lol. I have a love hate relationship with that magnifier. Gets in the way sometimes but I won't take it off cause it comes in handy reading the vernier.

Sure no problem. I'm on my way out the house but I'll snap some pics & give you dimensions when I get home.

Dan, mine is a series 520. Here's what I mean about the long reach scribe, it's mounted offset to allow the use of the extra long scribe. I didn't jot down any dimensions cause I don't think they would do any good for you but I can if you'd like. Even from the same manufacturer scribes come in different heights & shank sizes as well as shapes (square vs rectangle). Your scribe should look more like what's on my M-DRO unit.

Height of the scribe is most important but if you find something that is within the ball park you should be ok since your vernier scale is adjustable.

Thank you Will for the effort.
Yeah, the #520 has the satin base, the #514 has the green hammered paint base according to the catalog.
They both look to be thick (wide) (.350) shank at the mount clamp compared to B&S & Starrett which research indicates are usually 1/4".
I had a Fowler digital similar to yours in the rear of the pict but sold it off a few years ago. (drat...)
Perhaps I'll peddle the Starrett carriers I have in order to finance the restro of this puppy.

I have one down the basement that I'll measure up . I believe it's a Starrett but it doesn't work with my height gage . Not sure it would work with yours either but I'll check .
