Everything in my over stuffed shop is a dance of musical chairs trying to make things fit more efficiently. This stand has gone from originally holding my beader, and when I move the beader to the English Wheel I mounted the shrinker/stretcher to it. Now the S/S is also on the English wheel frame. So time to get its final use, the arbor press and vise.

I had the material, 10” channel so just made a tab to mount to the stand. And something I’ve always wanted, a built in shelf to extend the capacity of the press.

That’s sweet. Nice mounting a vise on the back. And the shelf is great. I’ve been thinking about a vise mount, probably as a receiver-tube arrangement. Since my arbor press is tiny maybe I’ll make it part of the same system.

Duly noted, this is not for heavy duty stuff. It’s just a 2tn. For heavy stuff I’ve got the 22tn screw press. If I ever start feeling scared I’ve got outriggers planned. The placement of the feet fwd of the front of the press and the weight of the frame and vise also help. This is definitely not for getting crazy with a cheater pipe, or side loads. it also needs a ratchet setup so the angle of bar is pressing down, not pulling it over. Since having the proper tools I also hardly ever use that vise, it seems more just a counter weight. Mostly both the arbor press and vise are for small stuff and the press is great for sheetmetal work.

Nice ! Having multi use mobile stands is something I’m starting to do too I’m my shop . As far as concerns about moving even with locking feet casters etc . Ive been putting concrete anchors that are more like a threaded insert so I can fasten something down in the garage bay when it warrants , remove and install a set screw to keep the threads clean when not needed . The ones I used where RedHead , looks like the ones I used are not made but similar to there https://www.lowes.com/pd/Red-Head-2...VhpyzCh3D_wHBEAkYASABEgJ6y_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Those are excellent ideas Alcap. I don’t tend to nail anything down because I’ve not got industrial size equipment and everything in the shop except my 9x20 and my surface plate are on castors. But having a couple of anchors in the floor for the odd emergency truly fits the fluid style that is my pocket shop.

Thanks.

Got a couple more mods in on the old arbor press. I bought a ratchet gear off eBay and it fits perfectly. So it just on the shaft until I get around to cutting a key way. That way it won’t get lost.

Bored the new 6” hand wheel also off eBay and installed it. Man I love that hand wheel. I also notched the ram to be able to reset angle until I get around to making the ratchet itself.
