Afternoon folks.
I am finally completing my Circa 1944 Heavy 10 and with a 42 " bed I have little room to Clamp the Taper attachment and also install the bed clamp for the Tool Holder upright post.
I am thinking of drilling a 1/2" hole through the Taper Clamp and "call it a day" the taper clamp is over two inches wide so I cans see any reason it "wouldn't work.
I'm not an engineer but I think I've heard of it being done successfully .
Pertinent comments are , Of course welcome , I wouldn't chuck the drill until I read your input

As always thanks
Joe

I seem to remember seeing a bracket that bolted to the backside of the bed, extending to the rear with a vertical sleeve to receive the column that supports the rack. Could be easily fabricated.

Why don't you move the taper bracket further up the lathe? That would give you the room you need.
