Muriatic acid mistake!

I have a jug of nitric acid that I've been carrying around since '78. Everything that gets close to it gets heavily rusted very quickly. You can't seal it tightly enough to prevent this.

Why do you have an affinity for Nitric Acid?

If you have had it since 1978, you musn't be using much?

It's useful for making things that go boom. Having moved on from that pursuit, I use it mostly for removing unwanted growths. Doesn't take much.

I think I had some old stuff which took too long to work (as a copper etchant). It was way the heck younger than MrWhoopee's though.

I'm wondering what the storage conditions do to it now. The outside here in VA is like an alien atmosphere right now and my MA has taken on a thicker yellowish look. This stuff seems to have gotten stronger if anything though (at least for steel). As long as it stays in the jug...
