My 70 Nova project (Formerly looking at this mustang)

Thanks. I see the orthopedist tomorrow. Will know more then. They gave me a brace, really can't use my hand with it on.

I've almost got the front sheet metal on. Need to finish that, get one seat mounted, put the interior in, and cut holes and mount my rear speakers and amp. I'm going to use a blue tooth module that feeds off my phone for tunes.

I sure didn't think this would happen to me today. I've not told my wife yet, she's at work, would freak and come home early. Not looking forward to that conversation.

Yikes, now you have to deal with that too, good luck.

Well that didn't go well. Wants me to stay out of the shop when she's not here. Like that's ever going to happen.

What I think what swayed the "discussion " my way was I was in the house when I fell. But if she keeps thinking about it she will come to the conclusion there are way more trip hazards in the shop, and no carpeting to cushion my fall.

This may cost me a something "expensive" as a distraction.

I hope tomorrow they can pop it back into place.

I'm keeping a good thought.

You went to the Emergency Room and they couldn't/wouldn't "pop in back in place"? That sucks.
I thought time was of the essence regarding dislocations. I guess I don't understand.

It sounds like you're keeping your humor (something "expensive" as a distraction).

Thanks for the good thoughts.

I'm trying to keep my humor and I'm sure you know the "something expensive" isn't something for me.

My paperwork says"closed fracture dislocation of interphalangeal joint of right thumb with malunion". I understand fracture, but that's about it. No they wouldn't do anything for it, have to see a specialist. I almost didn't go in, but seeing my thumb crooked made me rethink it. I've got a lot left to do with my thumb, would be nice it they can get it to work again.

So supposedly finger fractures heal in 3-4 weeks. But me being diabetic that may not be true. So sorry to say for you guys for awhile I'll be on here I'll be on here a lot. Your stuck with me it seems.

I've got an app on my Apple watch that will call someone if I fall and don't get up. Something like that might make the spouse more comfortable about you being home alone

That's a good idea. I have a galaxy s21, no watch. I'll check and see if there is an app like that.

@alloy,

Nothing but good thoughts coming from this direction too!

Perhaps a negotiated settlement with the Mrs., like: "I'll only be in the shop when I am fresh from say 8am until noon, when I start getting tired I'm done". That would give you plenty of afternoons for Hobby-Machinist and planning the next mornings work.

After all, what's the point of being retired if you cannot go into the shop? ;)

A negotiated settlement would entail some kind of bribe to one of the participating parties to get the outcome I desire. Monetary value of said bribe is yet to be determined.

I do usually go into the shop in the mornings. It is when I'm at my best.

My "retirement" was because of the stroke unfortunately. And yes if I can't go out to the shop then plant me is how I feel. I don't do couch potato very well, and never have. I feel useless if I don't do something productive every day. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow about all I'll do is drive into town for doc visits. That wipes me out for the day as far as energy goes. I guess you could say I'll be accomplishing something, but not in a positive way.

So life moves on..........................

Well saw the orthopedic doc and they don't think it's broken. Think I tore a tendon which is worse. 6 weeks total immobility of my thumb. If I move it even once the 6 weeks starts over. I'd rather it be a clean break or require surgery.

I'll be fitted with a custom brace hopefully soon.
