My cnc Taig machine shop

Quite the little hi-tech shop you have there. Very nice! :)

So what kind of projects do you do in your shop?

Hi guys

Thanks for the kudos and interest , I pretty much make whatever I need or for whoever needs it for $$$$........It has helped pay for some equipment mods . Anyways here are some
videos that I shot years ago sorry if they are drawn out a bit and in lower quality . I have been in remote control boating for 20 years and make all my motor , servo and T-bar mounting hardware
and I have even machined out my sons ATV quad cam cover and put in a lexan window - The list goes on from soup to nuts I have cleaned up commutators on motors at work and even machined a
trigger for a weedeater . I absolutely love the Taig and have to recommend Nick Carters website as and absolute gold mine of good ideas and info with the Taig Mill & Lathe http://www.mechanicalphilosopher.com/

Really nice setup, what sort of motor is being used on the mill (details, part numbers)?

Awesome work man. Them machines look really nice. And seem to do just as good of work

A perfect example of not needing tons of machinery to do really cool stuff. Very well done indeed! :)

Really appreciate the nice comments guys - like i mentioned earlier if you own a Taig lathe or mill Nick Carters website as a must have for great ideas .

The motors on the CNC mill and the manual electric drive lathe were bought from Princess auto here in Canada years ago they are 2hp treadmill motors that
were a surplus item I paid $35.00 each for them - Sorry i have no item or model number but have seen similar ones on ebay also under treadmill motors .
The motors are a permanent magnet motor and run through a bridge rectifier and a router speed control bought on Ebay .

I cleaned the motors up and on the mill had the center casing chromed - I would like to chrome the non CNC lathe motor next it is the same as the mills motor.
Hey if it looks good its gotta run good also .The CNC lathes the motors were a 36 volt dc low rpm motor that will handle about 80% of what the router
speed controls will throw at them safely or about to the red zone on the dials - I have no clue what those are out of and the model # stickers were long gone .

Sweet shop man and awesome work!

Tell me, do you permanently leave the riser blocks on the lathe? How does it affect rigidity?
