Fixed it!!!!
I found out that if I spin the spindle by hand while it's turned on, it would go ahead and run. BUT, it chattered real bad and got worse if I put my hand on it to add load. Sounded like bad bearings.
My son started ohming things and found 2 wires going to the motor were fine but the 3rd didn't seem to be connected. We thought it was a shot motor.
While unplugging the wire connectors I saw a red wire that was a little but up.
We reconnected everything and now it runs fine.
