My ‘new’ Select 1/2V Milling Machine

“There is a vibration that i think is related to the crappy drawbar that came with the mill. It does not center at the top so I think it is throwing off the balance of the whole spindle assembly.”

It is possible old stiff vee belts could create a vibration.

that is my other consideration. I might just replace the belts for good measure even though they don't seem too bad.... by the way, when you converted to VFD and the new motor, did you keep the original spindle and motor pulleys using just one longer belt? or did you have to use new pulleys?

I have switched my lathe and mill to use Accu-Link link belt. Very satisfied with results. Good news is local HF should have it in stock. The link belt is 1/2” x 5 feet and made in USA (at least the last time I purchase).

I would keep the original pulleys but eliminate the middle pulley and flip the motor pulley around so you have three speed ranges.
