Anybody know the purpose of these?
I thought it was a lathe tool with lots of bits but the relief angles aren't there.

Hi, Jeff, yes, that is indeed a lathe tool holder, probably early 1900s vintage, it would look right nice on my 9" Monarch Jr. lathe.

John,
How do you get the tool height correct?
This is mounted in an Aloris. I am bottomed out.

From the dust in the box I’d say their used on a wood lathe. Also you can see the wood dust buildup just below the cutting edges I think.

These were intended originally for an American Rocker tool post. height adjustment is in the angle and extension.

Be that as it may be, they were made for metal cutting, as an alternative to forged tools.

I mounted the tool upside down to run in reverse.
It would work but I'm not feeling great about the small bite I have on the tool QCT holder.
Actually, it worked pretty good.
