Naval canon VS Fortress cannon

Thank you and I like your creativity in keeping the strength in the barrel. Especially the end cap and ball, never seen that done. So I am guessing a boring head was used to cut the circle pocket which came out terrific. The Allen head machine screw I guess the head was turned down a bit. Tapped a shallow hole in the barrel to maintain desired wall thickness. The trunnions were likely lathe done with excellent fit to the circle pocket. The carriage side plates hold them from coming out even when firing.

I want to turn a brass one, smaller. I was thinking bore just deep enough like you did but I would do a center cutting endmill. I would use a lathe to make the trunnions. Perhaps cup the trunnions to hold silver solder and flux. Put them in place and squeeze in place with a clamp and heat up the area enough for the silver solder to melt and bond. I have been using a low temperature silver solder that melts at about 450F and it has held up in some tough environments.

But what you did is really nice. Really gives some ideas on how to proceed.
