What cooling fluid should I use in my lathe, I don't want something that's going to remove the finish, and freezing temps is not a problem, .

Thanks Harold

I use Trim MicroSol 585XT by Master chemical. I have it in the lathe, horizontal and vertical mill, surface grinder, and cylindrical grinder.
It's semi synthetic and never smells bad. I've tried others that really stink after not much time.
Used to get it from Enco...so msc probably has it.

What kind of turning are you planning on cooling? Cooling fluids usually have a high water content and don't mix well with cutting fluids. Cooling fluids are messy and might not be necessary or more trouble than they are worth for the hobbyist.
